A Smoothie Movie

So I made a little smoothie movie to show what my smoothies are like and how much fun the whole process can be.

If you can't handle QuickTime here is YouTube. If you think you can handle the HD version, it is available now.

If you want the best quality ingredients sunfood.com really can't be beat. Seriously, it is amazing. If you are looking for the ingredients you can check this smoothie post.

Making Perfect Smoothies

Some of you might be saying to yourselves, “that blender looks a little full.” My response would be, “maybe where you shop.” A few people have purchased blenders similar to mine and even more have shown interest in making smoothies for themselves so they can get all the good stuff their body needs that also isn’t pleasing to eat. I get asked quite a bit what I put in my smoothies and what other people should put in theirs. Here is a good list for a basic smoothie.

This seems like a lot of ingredients but you only need or want a little bit of each of these to create a balance in the whole smoothie that makes it easy to drink but also easy to digest and gives you a good base for your day. You really can easliy get more nutrition in one smoothie than most people get in a week and you probably should be.

All linked up and ready to go. You can get most of these items other places but this store sells the highest quality of everything. Also, if you use these links to get anything not just the stuff listed here I get credit for it.

Sun is Shining (Nature's First Food)

Bee Pollen

Pure Synergy

Cacao

Goji Berries

Incan Golden Berries

Maca

Hemp Seeds

Hemp Oil

Coconut Oil

Sea Salt

Honey

Merlin's Herbal Magical Roots Elixer

Natural Cellular Defense

Some other general ingredients that are more commonly found.

Celery

Lambsquarter

Spinach

Bananas

Kale

Blueberries

Raspberries

Blackberries

Once you have all these ingredients combined add some very fine spring water shipped in glass bottles so you have enough liquid to get the mixture moving.

In general you can get it all on this site. I added some links to Amazon products that might be cheaper or easier to get but if you want the best quality then sunfood.com really can't be beat. Seriously, it is amazing.

New Blender

As many people know, blenders are very important. Yesterday evening I got a birthday present from my parents in the form of a wonderful blender. You may have seen the Blendtec will it blend videos around the net or this video on my MySpace page. Yesterday I made some amazing soup and some amazing hummus and an amazing smoothie. This blender is so powerful, it just obliterates all foods. There are buttons on the face that let you select some pre determined cycles and a set of speed control buttons that let you manually set stuff. It is very nice and I am glad to have it.

I previously had a high end Cuisinart blender that really had to go on high for a long time before it could break up my smoothie ingredients. By the time it was done you could really smell the motor burning up. This is a blender that will last for a long time and it really shows in the quality. Fantastic.

For anyone that is interested this is a very nice blender that will really do what is needed. Have a great day.

The ingredients are cacao, goji berries, Incan golden berries, hemp seed oil, spirulina, red leaf kale, lemon, frozen bananas, frozen strawberries, bee pollen, maca, protein powder (made of nuts), coconut oil, agave nectar and maybe other stuff but that is probably it. The liquid is unfiltered apple juice.

Smoothie Blender Test

Danger: Even though nothing has happened something could happen as I have been told so I thought I would pass that along. Probably don't do the jar but do get a replacement pitcher if one is needed. Maybe if you could find plastic jars or something everyone would be happy.

If you can put a jar on top of any blender then why would you buy an $80 personal blender? There has to be something wrong.

The ingredients

Filled with apple juice and then the top was put on

Now some blending

Everything worked out fine. So my $40 blender + $0.80 jar worked like an $80 personal blender that has 1/3 of the power. Why doesn't everyone do this? or at least some people? I need to look into it further.

Smoothie contained apple juice, 1 granny smith apple, some raspberries, some black berries, goji berries and cacao. And when it was finished, everything was already in an easy to use container for drinking. I probably will not use the jars very often. Using the normal pitcher that came with the blender is probably easier.

Update: Stunning new implications. This also means that all blender pitchers are standardized so you could get any one you happened to like. Break your old fancy glass pitcher? You don't need a new blender, just a new plastic blender pitcher. Fantastic. Why can blender manufacturers work with a standard mount and I can't drive an electric car? It is just crazy. Click on my wish list on the right and buy me a blender.
